The word “tithe” means a tenth, and is defined as the first 10% of a person’s income that is to be given to the local church. Tithing is a principle that is taught throughout the entire Bible. Giving the tithe is a tangible way we can express worship to God and put Him first in our lives. Bringing our tithes into our local church is an opportunity for us to enter into God’s economy and remove ourselves from the world’s economy. It allows us to give God thanks, show God we trust Him and fight against greed in our hearts. It also makes a way for us to help in the work of spreading the gospel.
