A LIFESTYLE OF GENEROSITY
We believe that we are called to generous living in all areas of our life. Scripture continually calls us to think generously with our time, talent and treasure to advance the kingdom of heaven. Generous living grounds us in gratitude, stewardship and dependence on God’s provision for our lives. This passage in 2nd Corinthians states so well what we believe and embrace as a church.
2nd Corinthians 9:10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
GOD’S HEART FOR GIVING
Generosity is one of God’s characteristics that we see all throughout scripture. We as the Sound House community want to model God’s heart of generosity and willingness to share His resources to benefit others.
Giving is a mentality that makes incredible impact on people and in furthering God’s mission through the church. Giving equally impacts our own lives in so many ways that grow our hearts, increases our trust in God and changes our perspective with gratitude. These two passages to the early church were foundational in the communities’ mentality to giving:
2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Generosity for Kingdom impact
One of the great privileges we have as believers is to participate in God’s plan to bring restoration to this Earth and its people.
God established the church as the primary method to lead the efforts in Kingdom expansion. The Bible says that Christ is the head of the church and we are its body following His leading. The church is a community effort, not ever intended to be a gift from a few, but rather the sacrifice of many generous hearts. We believe that God’s kingdom plan is so valuable that it is worth the sacrifice to resource it.
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
